Computing

At Marston Thorold's, we recognise that computer systems are now embedded into most aspects of our daily lives. As a result of this, it is vital that children are taught the skills and knowledge they need to become confident, independent and responsible users of computing technologies, both now and as they evolve in the future. Children will be supported and encouraged to develop their knowledge and skills in the three main areas of the computing curriculum: computer science (programming and understanding how digital systems work); information technology (using computer systems to store, retrieve and send information) and digital literacy (evaluating digital content and using technology safely and respectfully). This will equip children with positive experiences and foundations on which to thrive in a technology-led world.

Computing Statement of Intent

‘I think it's fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we've ever created. They're tools of communication, they're tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user.’

Bill Gates
