Autumn Term
Autumn Term Neptune Class Newsletter
Welcome!
What’s happening this term?
A key focus of this term is building the pupils’ confidence in reading and writing, as the Year 1s transition from Reception and the Year 2s expand their skills in these areas.
In geography we are exploring where we live, focusing on Marston, Grantham, Lincolnshire and the UK. We will develop our skills of map-reading and using a compass.
In maths we have been learning about time and how to read an analogue clock. Have a go at testing your children at home! We will also be working on place value, number bonds to ten and developing our confidence with adding and subtracting numbers to 20.
Our science lessons are guided by the transition from summer to autumn as we enquire about and observe the seasonal changes such as falling leaves and decreasing temperature.
We will be discussing the importance of a balanced diet and how to keep our bodies healthy in PSHE, which links to fitness and team-building in PE.
In English we are reading and re-writing the traditional tale Little Red Riding Hood by Lari Don as well as exploring elements of non-fiction writing through recounting a trip to the woods.
R.E. - Islam
In R.E. we have been learning about Islam and what it means to belong to a community. We looked at the different routines of Muslim prayer and explored what it would be like to visit a mosque.
