  • Important Information Regarding Next Week (from Monday 19th July)

    Sun 17 Jul 2022

We are constantly reviewing the school’s risk assessment regarding the Red Extreme Heatwave warning which is predicted for tomorrow and Tuesday. According to my weather apps the hottest part of the day will be between 3-4pm which is when we send children home.

Therefore, we would like to give you the option to collect your children at 1.10pm on Monday and Tuesday when it’s predicted to be a couple of degrees cooler. Please email school at amy.parnham@gvsf.school if you would like to collect early so that we can have the children ready for collection from the normal exits.

We will be following all government guidance over the next couple of days and ensuring we keep the children as comfortable as possible. Please ensure that your child has a water bottle in school that they can refill, a hat and sun cream.

Apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

  • Sports Day - Monday 18th July 2022

    Fri 15 Jul 2022

So that we can make a prompt start to sports day on Monday morning, 18th July, at 9am we would like to ask everyone to drop their children off at the village hall between 8.40am and 8.50am. We will then walk the children back to school at the end of Sports Day which will be completed by 10.30 am, The presentation and winners will be announced at school later in the day. We will photograph this.

All children must come to school with plenty of water, a hat, and sun cream.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Sports Day.

Thank you for supporting the school.

  • Heatwave

    Fri 15 Jul 2022

We have received some enquiries regarding the predicted heatwave next week and what we will be doing within the school to protect our pupils. We have received guidance from the DFE and Local Authority which we will be implementing and have plans in place to adapt our days to make things as comfortable as possible for the children. We are lucky that the school building is quite cool and has air conditioning in some areas.

Please feel free to send children in their PE kits on Tuesday as well.

  • Important Information regarding Sports Day Monday 11th July 2022

    Sun 10 Jul 2022

We are really sorry but we have had to make the decision to postpone sports until Monday 18th July 2022 at 9am.

We understand that this may not be an ideal decision for some of you, as we know many of you may have booked time off work etc but with the weather forecast looking set to hit 30 degrees tomorrow afternoon and with the children at the forefront of our mind, we feel the safest option for them is to postpone.

We are really sorry for any inconvenience this will cause.

Many thanks for supporting the school.

  • Music Mash Up Live

    Tue 05 Jul 2022

Eight children from Marston Thorold's were invited to Belton Woods Hotel to take part in the Mash Up Live event organised by Lincolnshire Music Service. Across the county there were 52 schools taking part virtually and 4500 children! The children were absolutely amazing playing their trumpets as part of the live school orchestra. The children played alongside a live band, joined in with a beatboxer and some children even got interviewed. What an experience to be part of the live filming and to meet YolanDa Brown from CBeebies.
