Values For Life
As part of our SMSC curriculum (spiritual, social, moral and cultural) and our daily Collective Worship we introduced Values for Life into school in 2012. These Values also build on the ethos of our school and are linked to our Religious Education Teaching. We try to link these to events in the school and church calendar as far as we can.
Our Values for this year (2015/2016) are:
FRIENDSHIP - linked to Harvest and learning about God's harvest and those who aren't as fortunate as we are
COURAGE - linked to Christmas
RESPONSIBILITY - linked to Teamwork
TRUST - linked to Easter
FORGIVENESS - linked to annual testing - try your very best and don't give up!
JUSTICE - linked to transition - moving onto new schools and new classes and new rules
We are aware that some Values can be controversial—we will always give both sides of the argument (more so in upper KS2).
As a whole staff we will use the vocabulary and refer to the Values often, for example if a child misbehaves we will talk about personal responsibility; if a child is unsure who they can trust we will discuss the options. It will be helpful if you can use the vocabulary at home to reinforce the children’s learning please.
